DATZ April 2017 – “Catfish Press Review”

Hello catfish freaks,

I would like to draw your attention to two articles in the DATZ 4/2017:

Uwe Werner "The fishes of Río Sipapo (1)" (“Die Fische vom Río Sipapo”) (1)

Uwe Werner travel overland to the mouth of Río Sipapo in the year 1990. In 2014 his trip on a boad ends in the upper Río Sipapo. On these trips he and his friends catched Eartheaters (Geophagus abalios, Satanoperca daemon and Geophagus gottwaldi), Stingrays (Potamotrygon motoro, Potamotrygon schroederi and Paratrygon aiereba), Knife fishes and Cichlids (Hypselecara coryphaenoides) and some catfishes: Pinirampus pirinampu und Mastiglanis asopos.
Uwe determines that the fish fauna from the Río Sipapo and the fish fauna from the Rio Samariapo are very similar.

Frank Schäfer "Beautiful whiptail" (“Schöner Hexenwels”)

In the category „Popped up“ Frank Schäfer write about Hemiloricaria teffeana. This catfish was described from Rio Tefé. But we can find this catfish in a great area.

Enjoy reading of DATZ.
