Aquaristik Fachmagazin Dezember 2014 / Januar 2015 – Catfish Press Review

Hello catfish freaks,

today I want to introduce you to three articles from the current issue of Aquarium Fachmagazin (Dec. 2014/Jan. 2015):

Frank Schäfer "Paraloricaria vetula"

Frank reported about the import from Paraloricaria vetula by the company Glaser. This slightly larger Loricariinae comes from the southern South America. Frank recommends the animals to undergo seasonal temperature cycle: winter 14 – 16°C and summer 24 – 26°C.

Ingo Seidel "Ein kleiner Trugdornwels aus Brasilien" (“A small Auchenipteridae from Brazil”)

Ingo informed about a surprising import of Trachelyichthys sp. from Río Tapajós. As usual fish from the Amazon basin should be maintained at slightly higher temperatures (25 – 30°C). Based on the experience with Trachelyichthys exilis Ingo assumes that Trachelyichthys sp. “Tapajós” can be propagated in the aquarium.

Manuel John "Panzerwels Corydoras leopardus"

The author points out the frequent confusion between Corydoras leopardus, Corydoras trilineatus and Corydoras julii. Although C. leopardus has a long snout and the other two have a short snout. Also interesting is the information that Corydoras leopardus and Corydoras ambiacus have hybridized in some habitats.
