To Iquitos

Our “cultural journey” ended in Trujillo. We went back to Lima.
In Lima, there we had a good hour stay before our natural journey began with the flight to Iquitos.

The relocation from Trujillo to Iquitos was a bit exhausting: on the Pacific coast there were temperatures only around 20 ° C, but in Iquitos 35 ° C. After a short break in our hotel we went on a small sightseeing tour and searched for beverage sales.

Iquitos has more than 400,000 inhabitants. This makes it to the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest. The town can be reached only by airplane or ship / boat across the Amazon.

The city of Fitzcarraldo

The city Iquitos is also known for the film Fitzcarraldo with Klaus Kinski. However, it is less the story of the dreamer Fitzcarraldo, who wanted to build an opera house in the middle of the rainforest, in Iquitos like the Teatro Amazonas in Manaus, as the impressive nature shots.
