Aquaristik Fachmagazin April/May 2015 – Catfish Press Review

Hello catfish freaks,

today I want to introduce you to three articles from the current issue of Aquarium Fachmagazin (April/May 2015):

Ingo Seidel "Zwei seltene Antennenwelse aus Peru" ("Two rare Pimelodidae from Peru")

Ingo wrote about two imports from upper Amazonas near Iquitos, Peru. These are Exallodontus aguanai and an undescribed Propimelodus specie. This Ingo called Propimelodus sp. "Iquitos". How Ingo mentioned both species have only a small mouth. Therefore you can these socialize with great cichlids, loricarids and tetras.

Ingo Seidel "Corydoras simulatus kann verschiedene Panzerwels-Arten imitieren" ("Corydoras simulatus can imitate different Corydoras species")

Corydoras simulatus and Corydoras metae live in the Río Meta. We know that Corydoras simulatus imitate Corydoras metae. In an Export from Colombia Ingo found Corydoras simulatus, which have a color like Corydoras aeneus. He concludes that Corydoras simulates probably always mimic the dominant species in a river system. We know a similar behavior of Corydoras vittatus and Corydoras serratus.

Erik Schiller "Eine Seltenheit im Aquarium, der großflossige Panzerwels, Scleromystax macropterus" ("A rarity in the aquarium, a Callichthyidae with great fins, Scleromystax macropterus")

Erik Schiller researched the history of Scleromystax macropterus. Scleromystax macropterus have notable long fins. In the history there we can found only few entries for small groups. A reproduction is unknowns in an aquarium. A year ago, a large group was imported. Perhaps succeeds in increase this time.
