Aquaristik Fachmagazin April / Mai 2016 – „Catfish Press Review“

Hello catfish freaks,

today I want to introduce you in two articles from the current issue of "Aquaristik Fachmagazin":

Ingo Seidel "Peckoltichthys – little known, but very interesting"

Ingo wrote about the systematic classification of the genus Peckoltichthys. Mostly, the genus is considered monotypic. Ingo referred that’s possible to determine the species Peckoltichthys bachi (from Rio Juruá in Brazil) and Peckoltichthys ucayalensis (from Río Ucayali in Peru). Furthermore there are two forms with the L-numbers L146 (from Colombia) and L232 (from the border between Colombia and Peru). The forms L146 and L232 are very similar with Peckoltichthys bachi.

The first reproduction was in the zoo Basel. The water values were pH 6.6, temperature 27°C, conductivity 80µS/cm.

Ingo Seidel "Peckoltia wernekei – a new name for L243"

The Peckoltia-/Ancistomus-Species with the L-number L243 has long been imported in EU, frequently together with Peckoltia lineola (L202). Their origin is the basin of Río Ventuari in Venezuela. Recently Armbruster and Lujan described these species as Peckoltia wernekei.
Ingo wrote that Peckoltia/Ancistomus wernekei and Ancistomus sp. "L147" are far away from the Peckoltia senso strico in the genetic pedigree. Between these and the actual pedigrees of Ancistomus there are the genus Panaqolus and Scobinancistrus.
