To Yanamono

In Iquitos, there we had a room with a view of the city. We were able to take some pictures of the city. After breakfast we traveled to our next stop. Our Speedboat passed the port of Iquitos and the mouth of the Río Nanay. Our destination was about 80 km downstream in the near of Yanamono, an island in the Amazon. The journey to the lodge (yellow marker) took with stops just under 2 hours. We had chosen a very old Lodge. This should be very close to nature: little luxury, but a lot of nature. Electricity was only available in the main buildings, the ways and rooms were lit up at night with oil lamps …

Something we were surprised at first, because the lodge was not directly on a river. We had to walk another 10 minutes. At a higher water level it would have been possible: approaching by boat to the lodge.

On the afternoon after our arrival went down a stronger, longer lasting rain. We took with boat a few hundred meters down the Amazon River. There we visited a rum distillery.

After dark I wanted to see for fishes. Due to the heavy rain, the river near the lodge was light brown. No fish was to see or catch with the net. I went to Amazon River. The vigils for the boats on the Amazon River were surprised by my appearance. After a few explanatory words
they went back to their hut. I went to the jetty. I could not see deep into the water. Nevertheless, many fish were seen. But they were probably only one species. Suddenly there was a loud plop into the water. A little later the vigils stand with spotlights on the upper shore. They had probably thought that I had fallen into the water.
