Chiclayo and Túcume

You always hear of the Incas in Peru. A much older Peruvian culture is the Moche. This was around the 3rd century. The first days we wanted to move us on the trail of the Moche.

First we drove from Chiclayo to Túcume. There we visited the museum and the archaeological site. This is the largest pyramid complex in the world (dark green marker).

After seeing the pyramid complex we went back towards Chiclayo. In Lambayeque there we went to the museum “Museo Tumbas Reales del Señor de Sipan” (red marker) I would not know when I’ve ever been in a museum with such safety precautions. No photography allowed. A particular focus was the gold treasure (especially grave goods) of the Señor de Sipan.

So who’s coming to the area, should plan a visit to this museum.
