In den Welsatlas ging dieser 2005 noch als unbeschriebene Art der Gattung <em>Oxyropsis<\/em> ein. 2016 beschrieben Aquino &amp; Sabaj P\u00e9rez die Art als <em>Oxyropsis ephippia<\/em>. (&quot;<a href=\"http:\/\/symbiont.ansp.org\/ixingu\/publications\/publications\/2016-Aquino_Sabaj_Oxyropsis.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oxyropsis ephippia, a New Hypoptopomatine Catfish (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from Guyana<\/a>&quot;)<\/p>\n<p>2017 untersuchten Delapieve, Lehmann &amp; Reis die Verwandschaftsverh\u00e4ltnisse der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/tribus\/?tribus_name=Hypotopomatini\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Hypoptopomatini<\/em><\/a> (&quot;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1679-62252017000400212&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso&amp;tlng=en#f15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An appraisal of the phylogenetic relationships of Hypoptopomatini cascudinhos with description of two new genera and three new species (Siluriformes: Loricariidae)<\/a>&quot;). Dabei stellten sie zwei neue Gattungen auf:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Leptotocinclus<\/em><\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=252\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nannoxyropsis<\/em><\/a>. Neben zwei neuen Arten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=2558\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Leptotocinclus ctenistus<\/em><\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=2559\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Leptotocinclus madeirae<\/em><\/a> wurde Ingos Wels in die Gattung <em>Nannoxyropsis<\/em> \u00fcberstellt: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=2445\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nannoxyropsis ephippia<\/em><\/a>. Nanno ist die griechische Vorsilbe f\u00fcr klein &#8211; also kleiner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=72\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Oxyropsis<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ingo merkt noch an, dass im Rahmen der o.g. Arbeit auch die Gattung <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nannoptopoma<\/em><\/a> revalidiert
