This <em>Ancistrus<\/em> differs from many other <em>Ancistrus<\/em> by a network pattern on the head. Until now, we know this cafish as <em>Ancistrus<\/em> sp. \u201eReticulate\u201c. In this article, this catfish get the L-number L 503, so now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=2596\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Ancistrus<\/em> sp. &#8220;L 503&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Karsten brought animals of this specie along one of his excursions in Suriname. Meanwhile, he was also able to reproduce this specie. Propagation and rearing seem completely unproblematic.<\/p>\n<h2>Frank Sch\u00e4fer &#8220;Cactus catfish scientifically described&#8221; (&#8220;Kaktuswels wissenschaftlich beschrieben&#8221;)<\/h2>\n<p>Reason for the article is the description of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=276\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Pseudacanthicus major<\/em> (L 186)<\/a> by Chamon and Costa e Silva in &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/323447355_Pseudacanthicus_major_Description_of_one_of_the_largest_known_Loricariidae_Hypostominae_Ancistrini_a_species_from_rio_Tocantins_basin_Brazil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pseudacanthicus major: description of one of the largest known Loricariidae (Hypostominae: Ancistrini), a species from rio Tocantins basin, Brazil<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Frank briefly discusses the history of the cactus catfishes (genus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=51\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Pseudacanthicus<\/em><\/a>) and represents the distinction from the catfish of the genus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsgattung\/?gattung=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Acanthicus<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He sees the distinction with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Pseudacanthicus hystrix<\/em><\/a> somewhat problematic, since the type material from <em>Pseudacanthicus hystrics<\/em> was lost.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Frank considers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suedamerikafans.de\/en\/wels-datenbank\/welsart\/?art=150\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Pseudacanthicus<\/em> sp. &#8220;L 64&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; although not explicitly mentioned in contrast to L 186 &#8211; as <em>Pseudacanthicus major<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy reading
