Amazonas Mai/Juni 2017 – “Catfish Press Review”

Hello catfish freaks,

I would like to present you some articles of the current edition of the Mai/Juni 2017.

Hans-Georg Evers “Stanley Howard Weitzman 16.03.1927 16.02.2017”

In February of 2017 Stanley Howard Weitzman died. He was one of the most important ichthyologists of our time. Hans appreciates his lifework.
In 1971 Nijssen named a Corydoras after Stanley Howard Weitzman: Corydoras weitzmani.

Andreas Tanke “Do the aquaristic be the last chance of the fishes from Rio Xingu? (“Ist die Aquaristik die letzte Chance für Fische des Rio Xingu?”)

Andreas Tanke reports about a project from Leandro Sousa. Leandro Sousa tries to maintain and to reproduce catfishes from the rio Xingu in tanks in Altamira.

Andreas Tanke “Baryancistrus xanthellus ‘Verde'”

In this article there Andreas Tanke presents (again) a flashy Baryancistrus xanthellus from rio Xingu which in old age is very similar to Baryancistrus chrysolomus (L 47). This form we already know from a presentation by Frank Schäfer in 2011. He called this form Baryancistrus sp. “L 81N”.
